Bangalore Comic Con, in its third year, has gone bigger than ever. This time, the ample space at the White Orchid Convention Center near Manyatha Tech Park was taken over by comic fans and cosplayers for three days. I went on Day 2 hoping for lesser crowds since the location was a bit away from the city. No such luck. It was one of those days where the sun will scorch you from existence. A large number of online bookings resulted to fans in long queues to collect their tickets while superfans (3-day pass) and non-reservers had it easy with empty ones. The place was packed with frenzy fans and kids with painted faces and I was jostled from stall to stall. After hardly being able to check out the merchandise in the first few stalls, I settled for snapping pictures of interesting stalls to check them out online later.

This year, there was less to do with comics per say. Majority of the stalls were all about selling t-shirts, posters, artwork, coasters and coffee mugs related to movies, TV shows with the same repeated designs from the internet. There are few exceptions like Chokdi, which sells designs with cross stitch pattern rather than the conventional print. BCC 2014 also took a right step with few book launches. Some of the other cool things I saw were watching budding artist trying out the digital drawing tablets at the Wacom stall, the personalized comic strips given out by Rob Denbleyker of Cyanide & Happiness fame, playing with lightsabers at the Star Wars experiential zone and the House of Amar Chitra Katha.

I could only click a few snaps before my phone’s ran out of charge. For more pictures at visit the BCC’s instagram page.
